About us

We are Nancy and Maurits, and we met on a Northern Lights trip in Finnish Lapland in 2017.

In 2019, we visited Spitsbergen, and ever since then we’ve been fascinated by Scandinavia, and Norway in particular. Having spent several years travelling around the country in our camper van during our holidays, we’ve passed through Nissedal, amongst other places. And ever since that first time, this region has stolen our hearts. The campsite where we stayed on that very first occasion is just a few minutes’ drive from our cabin.

In Norway, there is plenty of space, fresh air and clean water. The walks are always adventurous, and for dogs it is a paradise of smells. The outdoor life (friluftsliv) is truly a way of life here. You’re allowed to light a fire in many places, and you can even have a barbecue in autumn and winter. The Norwegians always seem very friendly, practical and extremely helpful.

We plan to settle here permanently in a few years’ time.
